  • Witness appeal after vehicle failed to stop on M1 southbound

    South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after extensive damage was caused to a white Volkswagen Golf on the M1 on Sunday morning.

     

    At 10.30am on Sunday, 19 February, near Woodall Services, a white VW Golf was travelling on the northbound carriageway of the M1 in lane 3. A second vehicle, possibly a small white van, was towing a box trailer and travelling southbound at the same location.

  • Police appeal for witnesses after head-on collision in Barnsley

    Police are appealing for witnesses after two people were injured in a head-on collision on the A61 Sheffield Road, at Worsbrough Bridge, Barnsley, yesterday morning.

     

    The incident happened at 5.24am on Tuesday, 21 February, around 310 metres the Birdwell side of the junction of Sheffield Road with Worsbrough Road.

     

    A silver Vauxhall Vectra is believed to have been travelling towards Barnsley on the wrong side of the road when a blue Ford Fiesta, heading in the opposite direction, collided with it.

  • Police extremely concerned for welfare of missing Sheffield OAP

    Officers searching for missing Sheffield man Baden Powell, 71, are now extremely concerned for his safety and welfare.

     

    Enquiries are continuing to establish where the pensioner went after discharging himself from Rotherham District General Hospital (RDGH) at around 3pm on Sunday, 19 February.

  • Police in Doncaster are appealing for information following an assault in the town centre

    On Sunday, 29 January at approximately 3.15am, a 44-year old man and a 45-year-old man, entered a fish and chip shop on Hallgate after a night out.

    They ordered some food and waited at the counter for their order. When their order was ready, two other men also stood at the counter, picked up the food and started to eat it. 

    When they advised it was their order, they were allegedly assaulted with the 44-year-old sustaining swelling to the left side of his face, and the 45-year-old suffering two haematomas on his brain and bleeding on his spine.

  • Large quantity of cigarettes stolen during Brinsworth convenience store robbery

    Officers are appealing for information following a robbery at the A + S convenience store on Duncan Street, Brinsworth, at about 6.30am on Friday, 17 February.

    Two men, one carrying a baseball bat, entered the store and threatened the shop assistant behind the counter. They demanded cash from the till and one of the offenders filled a shopping basket full of cigarettes. Both men then fled from the shop and may have left the area in a blue vehicle.

  • Officers at Elmfield Park to seek more witnesses to Casey stabbing

    South Yorkshire Police officers will be at Doncaster’s Elmfield Park today and over the weekend following last night’s candlelit vigil for teenager Casey Kearney, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday.

     

    Detective Superintendent Terry Mann, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “We’ve been encouraged by the public’s response, but we are still appealing for more witnesses to come forward.”
